2023 Erskine College Homecoming

Erskine College’s 2023 Spirit Week started on October 10th and ended October 14th. The first event to celebrate the week was Pie Your Faculty. The event was in partnership with AED. During lunch, consenting faculty members in ponchos and hairnets could be pied by students. Wednesday night, SALT held a kickball tournament in Galloway Gym. Students signed up as teams and competed in a bracket. The team Penny Pinchers won! Thursday night, an open mic night was hosted in The Grumpy Mule. Friday evening, the Homecoming Masquerade was held at The Livery Stable in Abbeville. The dance’s DJ was Erskine alumnus Camilo Vasquez. At the dance, students could also vote for the 2023 homecoming court which was announced at the homecoming football game the next day. On October 14th students’ families and alumni families could enjoy food, games, music, and fellowship on campus for Family Day. That afternoon, Erskine played against Carson-Newman University for the homecoming football game. Before and during the game, the Euphie Men hosted a tailgate that served many current students and alumni alike. During halftime, the Homecoming Court was announced as the following:

Freshman Class Prince and Princess: Ricky Harding and Maris Kate Payseur

Sophomore Class Prince and Princess: Nick Jefferson and Deanna Claxton

Junior Class Prince and Princess: Shayo Asiru and Iliana Moore

Homecoming King and Queen: Rashad Luckey Dowdey and Chelsey Eison

Spirit Week ended with campfires at the pavilion after the football game. There, students enjoyed smores, music, and fellowship and received the 2023 homecoming shirts. 2023 Spirit Week and Homecoming was an enjoyable time for both students and alumni and dubbed a rousing success!
